    • Able to choose the grid colors

      1) Able to choose the grid color. Shades of gray or other user's color choices.

      2) Grid with more shades help to pin point a grid section when working with multiples SCALES such as inches, feet and others scales.

      3) In Visio version #1 released in 1992 their was a dynamic green cross that moved in sync with the cursor allowing comparing a pair of two values with the grid.. Need more reasearch about that...

      Thanks so much!

      • Dynamic grid functionality is missing if we open Visio via RDP session (W10 OS + Visio 2013/2016 any version). Reprosteps

Dynamic grid functionality is missing if we open Visio via RDP session (W10 OS + Visio 2013/2016 any version). Reprosteps:

1.-Take 2 machines and do an RDP session from machine A to machine B (Visio 2013/2016 needs to be installed on machine B)
2.-Open Visio 2013/2016 after establishing the RDP session.
3.-Make sure that the “Dynamic grid” functionality is not turned off (It should be enabled by default).
4.-Try to check if the mentioned funcionaly works by adding more than one shape on any drawing.

Actual result: Dynamic grid is not working.
Expected result: Dynamic grid should be working.
        Workaround:…

        • Always display connection points / increase size of connection points

In Visio 2016, connection points are only visible under certain conditions:

          > Connection points become visible when you try to connect one shape to another. You see a shape’s connection points when you hover near the shape with the Connector Tool or drag the endpoint of any connector or line near a shape that has connection points.

In older versions of Visio, connections points were always visible. Please add an an option to always display connection points.

Additionally, when the connection points are visible, they are difficult to see, even when zoomed in.

Increasing the size of the "grey square"…

          • Text block constraint/guide based on parent shape's geometry

It would be useful if the text block position tool could constrain/guide along a path that is perpendicular to the parent shape's geometry.

For a shape consisting of a single line segment where the text block and line's geometry are parallel this could work well and probably the easiest case to implement.

In the first example the keeping the text block in line is not too bad as it's only moving in Y, but in the second example it would help if Visio had optional constraints to limit the text block moving perpendicular to the line only.

            • Update position in the 'Size and position' task pane while dragging an object

At the moment the X/Y coordinates in the size and position task pane don't update until the object drag has finished (mouse up). It would make sense if this was continuously updated while the shape was being moved.

              • Improve snapping based on initial drag start position

At the moment Visio appears to snap to any vertex of a shape that lines up with the grid when grid snapping is enabled. If some of the vertexes are off the grid then this creates snaps/steps between the grid while moving.
This could be vastly improved if it snapped based on the nearest vertex to the initial selection drag event.

This would allow precise alignment under the majority of situations.

For the example below, the first drag sequence at the bottom right of the shape should only snap to grid points where the bottom right vertex would align. For…

                • Allow separate windows for the same source document

For multi-monitor setups allowing child windows to be separated from the single host app window would be extremely useful, as per Excel: https://blogs.office.com/en-us/2013/02/07/open-excel-workbooks-in-separate-windows-and-view-them-side-by-side/, or, ideally, using Visual Studio's tear off windows, out of the main app into some spare screen space.

Although you can stretch the app window across multiple monitors the break between two monitors never sits in the right place (ie the break between two child windows) and so you end up using a single monitor.

In Visio, it's common to have multiple ShapeSheet windows open at once, either displaying master and instance, or one for each…

                  • Add capability of: sorting stencils alphabetically and also resize the stencil task pane

Have you tried to use Visio in a big scree monitor? It is almost impossible as the stencils are so small! There is no way that I can make the icons on the selection pane large.
Also, why can't I sort the stencils alphabetically? It would help a lot specially when I know what I am looking at.
Example: Get the Azure Visio Stencil package. So many icons without sorting capability is painful!

                    • Please make Visio use the same colour palettes as PowerPoint, Word etc

Please make the Vision shape palettes use the same colour themes, gradients and effects as PowerPoint, Word etc.

The current implementation of Visio 2016 has a very different look and feel to all other MS Office tools for the way that the colours and gradients default, which is very disconcerting and makes it hard to apply enterprise colour guidelines consistently.

                      • Add advanced filtering capabilities for visibility and dynamic application of properties in bulk

It would be VERY useful if there were a way to set up filters that work like this:
                        1. give the filter a name
                        2. Add criteria to the filter based on properties of shapes (e.g. master name, a shape data value, a value of a particular cell on the shape sheet, whether or not the shape is on a particular layer)
                        3. Allow the criteria to be combined in a hierarchy that allows ORs and ANDs to apply in whatever order and grouping makes sense
                        4. Allow the user to perform some action based on the filter
                        - set…

                        • Invert a layer's visibility

Right now, we can add shapes to multiple layers. We can check the Visible box in the Layer Properties dialog to make all shapes on the #layer visible. However, we can't perform the inverse -- that is, we can't instruct Visio to hide everything on a layer.

The result of this is that if I want to hide a shape, I have to hide EVERY layer assigned to it. I should be able to say "make everything NOT on this layer visible"

                            • Change the pin position without moving the shape

I wanted to position some things precisely on the page, but do so from the top left corner. So selected the object I wanted, changed the pin pos from centre-centre to top-left expecting it to now show me the coordinates of the top left corner. But it moved my shape's top left corner to the centre-centre position. What use is this to anyone?

I have currently latest version of Visio 2016 Professional and when I enable grid on document and move Visio to 2nd screen the gridlines are not visible. This might be due to the monitor settings as well, but could this be a bug ?

                                • Shape Data window should sort all fields with data in them to the top.

Shape Data window should sort all fields that contain data to the top of the list. Since most fields won't contain data, this makes it inconvenient to see relevant information when selecting different shapes.

                                  • Support more than one text block per shape OR CONNECTOR

Visio should natively support more than one text block per shape OR CONNECTOR.

Database ER connectors are a natural for this; I can imagine an overall "relationship" text block somewhere in the middle, with text blocks at either end as well. (A secondary issue with connectors is that some of the specialized built-in connectors don't accept modifications, such as line width, gracefully, so I end up using "regular" connectors).

In shapes with distinct areas (i.e. that have one or more lines crossing the shape) it makes sense to have a text "title" in the upper region and a "description" or…

                                    • Add Office Standard Drawing Tools or Improve/Expand Current Set

Additional or Improved tools for making custom shapes, Excel or and Word have more better easier to use tools that would be great additions to what's available now.

                                      • Re-enable shap shifting with arrow keys

As said: In prior versions it was possible to move shapes using the arrow keys. This was the only really precise possibility to move shapes.
Now, this is not possible anymore, instead I can move around in the window witih the key (which is already covered by key up and key down).

                                        • Add a checkbox to remember US vs. Metric units

Every time I start a new diagram, I'm asked to specify US or Metric units. I always choose the same option. It would be great to add a "remember this decision" checkbox to that dialog so I can skip that step and go straight into building my diagram.
