Fix Picture Tools / Format Picture / Transparency so that it does not "blur" photos while it makes them transparent.
The "Format Picture" / "Transparency" tool unacceptably blurs the subject image as it makes it transparent. This is a flaw with an important functionality and needs to be fixed. Visio 2006 performed this task perfectly. I look forward to the fix; thanks.

Make external data import use multiple cores again.
Visio pro 2010, 2013 uses multiple cores 2016 only use 1 core if you do an external data import from excel. to give you an idea. I have 1 large visio flow and I import the data from excel, the 2010 and 2013 versions of visio need 5 a 6 minutes to complete. Visio 2016 is after 1 hour on 10%
I tested this behaviour on several pc's from windows 7 up to 10, office 2010 up to office 365, 32 and 64 bit. and. My last try to see if this problem was gone was a i9-7980XE 128GB ram…

Callouts lose association when the Callout layer is hidden
As the title describes, when adding a callout to a shape, and then hiding the Callout layer that is automatically created through the Layer Properties screen will break the relation between the shape and the callout. So when you make the Callout layer visible again, the callout won't be linked to the shape anymore.
The same behavior occors when you add the target shape to another layer and hide that one.
This doesn't seem very practical as it renders one of the Layer systems features, hiding certain shapes/information when you don't want to see them, essentially useless.3 votes -

optimize speed when performing a layout change of small subunits in an larger org chart
When working with large org charts (200+ people, often significantly more), it can require manually moving sections of the org chart around to get the best visual representation (alternating leaders who have large vs small orgs so that the lower parts of the page are maximized). In these large org charts, changing the layout of subgroups sometimes takes an inordinate amount of time (I'm on a very modern machine with plenty of CPU/RAM). I wonder if there is a way to speed up this operation through optimized algorithms, or maybe viewing the entire affected group as an irregular shape, and…

Remove the limits on Excel compatibility.
Before MS bought Visio I used it to track my companies PCs with a Visio Drawing inserted into an Excel spreadsheet. I could link PCs to a line on the Spreadsheet and when I needed to move a PC I could keep the inventory and location in the building up to date easily. Then MS bought it and within a few updates the compatibility between Visio and Excel degraded and I could not longer use Visio and Excel in that way. It remained degraded 'til the day I retired a couple of years ago.

Fix the inconsistent turn on of eccentricity handles, problem that is years old!
I have used Visio since before MS bought it (when it was more compatible with Excel). I have looked up in help and tried to turn on the eccentricity handles using the help instructions dozens of times and the instructions do not work consistently. It would be great if you fixed that!

Connection Points should be unseen, unsnappable and ungluable for shapes on Locked or Invisble layers
Currently all connection points become visible when attempting to glue a shape, regardless of whether the adjacent shapes are on invisible or locked layers
Those that are on hidden layers are however not gluable (good) but those on locked layers are (bad)
I suggest that these connection points should be invisible, unsnappable and ungluable for shapes on invisible and locked layers3 votes -
Allow the disabling of anti-aliasing on imported images
There should be some simple way to disable anti-aliasing of pasted-in or imported images, either in the Advanced Options settings for the program, or in the Format > Compress Picture settings for individual images.
My job requires me to trace many images of objects in Visio, which can often be very complex. Visio seems to "smooth" (anti-alias) any imported images, which, for some reason, completely eats up performance, making every small action take a long time to compute. The amount of this performance decrease depends on the the image, as well as the zoom level, often getting progressively worse as…

Alignment capability extensions
You can currently align top/middle/bottom, and right/center/left between two shapes. It would be nice to be able to align the right edge of one shape with the left of another, or top with bottom. Heck, how about the full matrix of alignment possibilities?

Allow icons to be manipulated freely within cross-functionional "Swimlanes" without being impacted.
When there is a significant amount of data with a swim-lane, adding or moving an icon will cause the chart to expand, causing constant rework or "undoing" the change.

The Evil Green Box
When dropping a connector on a page, the green alignment boxes flare up and cannot be over-ridden. There is a subtle "walk-through" flag in the Shape Sheet, but it has to be dealt with at that level. There should be a global toggle to turn these off.

Individual word highlighting.
I used to be able to click 4 times on text and have the individual word highlight & then Ctrl U to underline. What happened? Now I have to arrow around. Huge time waster.
