(Reinstate) PDF Layer Support
Earlier versions of Visio exported layer information to PDF which was extremely useful (and encouraged the use of Visio as a preferred drawing tool)
PDFs could then be distributed with the option to switch on and off the layers of information but this feature no longer works. Files can still be Saved/Exported as PDF but all layer information is discarded as if it was printed to PDF instead.
Was there a reason that PDF layer support was dropped?

This is because Adobe is still not compatible with 64 bit Visio!!!
You have to install 32 bit version of office , but then you can't have AutoCad Electrical and some big data base in MS access ... -

I do not remember the built-in PDF export ever preserving layers, but I wish it did. However, the Adobe Acrobat tries to, but fails … see https://blog.bvisual.net/2012/07/30/does-adobe-acrobat-make-better-pdf-files-from-visio/
