Visio is often primarily used for diagrammatic graphics. Explaining relationships between things. These projects usually have heavy usage of repeated/similar/duplicated captions and objects.

This can mean constant switching between, locking/unlocking and visibility on and off ...of layers.
And constant arrangement with snapping and gluing, and also not wanting to snap or glue.
Floorplans being a great example.

And Visio is meant to be built for speed.

[The sequence of opening and closing a dialog box regularly for each layer change when working on layers is frustrating. Other graphics packages solved this long ago.]

Make LAYER PROPERTIES DIALOG BOX resizable and keep resize stored for next open.
[The sequence of unnecessarily long winded navigation to the right layer, and not be able to see all layers at once is frustrating.]

Patent drawings have very strict but simple requirements, including:
- certain page dimensions (A4 or US letter),
- numbered pages (e.g. "1/2" centered at the top of the first of two pages, within the margins),
- certain margins(top/left/right/bottom: 2.5/2.5/1.5/1.0 cm),
- line drawings with thick black lines (1pt), and
- no colours or shading.

A template that provided these features would be great, or alternatively the ability to import templates or modify these elements of the page directly would work too.

In addition to functionality, one or two additional elements in the shape library would help. Curved callouts are customary in patent drawings. These generally lack decorative elements like braces or lines on the text end of the callout (the text is just a reference numeral). The opposite end of the callout can optionally have an arrow - my current template includes a curved callout with an arrow and one without.

I can provide a Visio template with all of the appropriate settings if desired.
