Remove or reduce the requirement for Visio Online
I'm finding a common deal-breaker is the $5+ / month / author for a Visio Online Plan to edit a visual. It’s such a dumb requirement it’s embarrassing to present to a client. So much admin hassle for such a trivial amount, and on top of a Visio license which is already an additional cost for most organisations.
There’s a deathly silence on this visual since the GA on blogs, twitter etc. It seems a shame as I presume a lot of people worked hard to get this ready, and it could probably do a lot better job than the alternatives. It could be a useful addition to the Power BI platform which is otherwise just exploding with growth and opportunities.
Please reconsider the licensing and architecture before this promising effort withers and dies.
I suggest you look at the Power BI Custom Visual as a “loss leader” to help revive the declining fortunes of Visio, with some usage scenarios not requiring an Visio Online Plan and therefore allowing it to work offline. I expect that change alone would drive uptake of Visio itself, then inevitably some Visio Online uptake. The scale of the Power BI audience is now so vast that you would probably soon be way ahead of your current trajectory.

It is now possible to create process flow diagrams and or charts without a Visio licence if you use the Visio Data Visualizer app for Excel, available from the Office store. These diagrams can then be used in Power BI too.
