When defining a User ODBC data source using the ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server, version 2017.173.01.01, an error dialog displays from Visio Pro stating:

"You are using a Visio ODBC Generic Driver' driver to connect with a Microsoft SQL Server' DBMS datasource.
By using an incompatible driver, it is possible that the catalog information retrieved will be incomplete."

After accepting this message a 2nd dialog appears:

"The default driver was changed to ODBC Generic Driver."

The database is reverse engineered, however, columns defined as nvarchar or bigint in the SQL database are reflected in Visio as LONGVARBINARY and INTEGER, respectively.

    *********

Using SOL Server Native Client 11.0, version 2011.110.6540.00, an error dialog displays from Visio Pro stating:

"The currently selected Visio driver is not compatible with the data source."

    The process does not continue.
